About RedR
RedR is an international disaster relief charity which trains aid workers and provides skilled professionals to humanitarian programmes worldwide, helping to save and rebuild the lives of people affected by natural and man-made disasters.
RedR is now looking to recruit a Country Director for Jordan, who will have overall responsibility for strategic management of the country programme. S/he is directly responsible for the strategic direction, general oversight and development of the programmes in Jordan and the region (notably Iraq), along with staff, team and programme, and managing relations with external clients, donors, other sector stakeholders. The post holder must be an experienced manager with a demonstrated track record of developing, securing funding for, and implementing humanitarian programmes, preferably with a focus on capacity building.
Person Specification
Essential
- Masters level qualification in a relevant area e.g. international development, political science, or a similar humanitarian/development related field
- At least 10 years in senior management position with responsibility for line managing others.
- Familiarity with humanitarian operations including security, backed up by relevant experience in complex emergencies.
- Proven experience in sourcing and securing donor funding including familiarity and experience in working with DFID, ECHO and USAID
- Excellent financial management skills, including budget monitoring, donor compliance and maximising financial performance
- Excellent communications, external relations and networking skills. Competency in marketing would be a distinct advantage,
- Proven record of excellent people skills, including good communication and inter-personal skills
- Excellent computer skills, with good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to adapt to different contexts
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Willingness and ability to travel within the Middle East
Desirable
- Previous experience in Learning and Development would be a distinct advantage
- Experience in working through local partners. Ideally this would include a role in capacity building with staff and/or partner organisations.

Further Details
Location: Amman, Jordan
Contract: 12 month fixed term full-time post
Salary: GBP 34,000 gross per annum
Closing date: 18 June 2016
Interview date: Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 29th June, 2016.
Start date: 04 September 2016, start date in Jordan
